Can anyone assist, with my When event not firing OFF.....

In my When event, I have code to validate a text box, code is: this.textValid = thisform.validationMethod()

Then I have code in my LostFocus that is fired off based off this.textValid answer. First time around, it works and i can see the when fire. But every subsequent time of loosing focus, the when does not fire off and the flag stays as False.
