Every night before going to sleep I play 3 games of Gin Rummy against a Robot named Mercedes.
I've tried other robots in the game and they either destroy me or let me beat them easily.
Mercedes and I are almost evenly matched. The game keeps a running score and over time, I'll win about 3 out of 5 games against her.
I've been playing her for a couple of years.
So you'd think that if we played 5 games, she'd win 2 and I'd win 3.
But that's not how it goes. She might win 10 games in a row and put me in a deep hole and then I get a streak going and win 15 in a row to climb out and get an edge in the running score till she goes on a streak again.
Question for the quants out there - Is there a name for this phenomenon?
