My test is that it shouldn't take more time to install and learn a tool than you save over time by using it.
As you might guess, I use very few add-on's.
The one addon I used for fox is XFRX. If I had a dollar for every time just one of my apps executed XFRX over the years, I'd be typing this from the French Riviera.
In the .NET world there's even less need for add-on's since the language contains so many native features.
An ELDOS addon to .NET made PGP encryption/decryption a breeze. Otherwise I haven't used any.
Anyone who does not go overboard- deserves to.
