no , No, NOOO.
Not github. github is nothing to learn - it's someone elses computer running a server to share git repositories with others or (if one trust and pay them) own important stuff outside own cubicle. It also provides tools to interchanges ideas. A lot more, but not for use trilobytes. More common langs can do a lot there, but this is rather useless for us.

What you need to learn is how git ticks, that's different, and I hope you have a good APU through your blizzard. This is nothing for a short evening.
I only can courage you to do. I still try to figure out if I do a session in October SWFox. (I've tried last year but failed to create by summer depression)
Until that:
- get a copy of git from https://git-scm.com
- download https://git-scm.com/book/en/v2
- check out https://ohmygit.org/ to not fall in beginners traps
- just work through it to get the idea. Just do simple text files - no need to confuse the Fox with it.

After that I recommend FoxBin2PRG. gitish via Bin2Text or SCM like for example with ProjectExplorer. All of this available on VFPX.
There is a rant from myself https://github.com/fdbozzo/foxbin2prg/blob/master/docs/FoxBin2Prg_git.md about git and FoxBin2PRG, there is - to me - a small issue on installing git I think one should look at if working with the Fox. The rant uses wrong version numbers as I see - need to rework this. Let's set it to issues ....
