From what I understand, in order to benefit from on-premises support, we need to use Power BI Report Server. Thus, this makes corporate data to remain on site. It is not sent across the net. Then, when we compare the benefits between that one and Power BI Service, we rapidly discover that a lot of features are not supported in Power BI Report Server. It is known that many corporations do not allow data to navigate across the net. Strict security forces the data to remain on site. Thus, we need local servers. Data for the reports are local and remain within the domain users who access it either physically connected to the network or through VPN.
Thus, how it is possible to use Power BI to support local reports if most of the features are not supported?
https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/report-server/compare-report-server-serviceFirst of all, dashboards are not even supported. Advanced users cannot create reports on the web. Automatic refresh is not supported. And, yes, we are local. So, I really don't understand all this restriction. Usually, when we have a local server, we do not have more options. This doesn't seem to be the case here. I do understand Microsoft and other providers want everyone to be on the cloud. But, during these days, many are still local.
