>>>Is that their only stated reason? FWIW I know quite a few medical doctors reluctant to take one or other of the vaccine options after researching carefully.

>>John, just to clarify, are you saying that you know some medical doctors who are reluctant to take "one" of the specific vaccines? (i.e. J&J, versus Pfizer/Moderna)

>As we go into summer, I am at the moment reluctant to take vector vaccines if offered. We over here are neither given choice on vaccine or time, EU bickering on price (and thereby priority and delivery) has put us in Socialist and bureocratic dream world., Still waiting to be offered Pfizer/Moderna, turned down "offered" AZ, while our politicians already are planning to send out 100 million doses to Japan for Olympic Games and more later to poor countries.

That is older vaccines. You really need to understand mRNA. Once again, my opinion on this is going to be poo-pooed by peanut gallery. I worked for a world famous medical professor of microbiology. He and his wife were both heads of their departments and urged me to go into medicine. When your immune system encounters a live vaccine, it samples it and begins to build defenses. That is a live virus. A traditional vaccine gives you either live or weakened or dead actual virus. mRNA gives you a small piece of the virus. Your immune system can learn from that. You feel a bit crappy after the vaccine because your immune system reacts to everything. It passes in a day or two. I had chickenpox - it was a horrible week. 40 years later this same virus that laid dormant in my body, crawled along my nerves to ignite like fire as shingles. The immune system did not cure it at first. Did not prevent it acting as shingles. I'll take a vaccine any day over that.
