>>>I have a new customer who does not seem to have any technology for me to access their VM in order to install my VFP 9 and ASP.NET applications. I have a GoToMeeting account but it would require for someone to be in the Meeting for a few hours (during the install).
>>>What other technologies - hopefully free or inexpensive - I can offer them in order for me to connect to the VM?

>>1. Ad-hoc/remote support. This usually requires someone at the host side to initiate or join a meeting. GoToMeeting you already have, there are other such as LogMeIn Rescue
>>
>>2. Remote access software. A component which is always listening is installed on the host. An authorized remote user can then access it at any time with no action required on the host. Examples are GoToMyPC and TeamViewer. TeamViewer for one has a trial period, that might be long enough to do what you need. Someone who is security-conscious can disable or uninstall it from the host afterwards

>>Over the last year or so many organizations have implemented VPN access to support remote working. If your new customer doesn't already have it they could consider implementing it. VPN + Remote Desktop Connection is the gold standard of quality for Windows remote access.

TeamViewer is a separate company/product, it has nothing to do with MS Teams.

If configured to run as an always-available host, the product runs as a service on Windows. It's available even if no-one has a signed-in session on the VM. You connect via TeamViewer, then sign in to Windows and use it normally. If you need to install software the Windows sign in account will probably need admin privileges.

During installation on a new host it will be assigned a new Partner ID (9 or 10 digit number) and a password will be configured. One thing to be wary of - if TeamViewer is installed on an RDS host, then your customer will need to tell you the Server ID (partner ID), not the User ID for the currently signed in Windows session (which will vanish when that session is signed out).

TeamViewer works fine and is a godsend when nothing else is available. However, if you're used to other solutions such as Windows Remote Desktop Connection, in comparison it's sluggish and I for one experience annoying screen scaling issues.
Regards. Al
