I had a near snafu with such a setup. The server was in Texas but the time set was pacific, which was odd... and reminded me of how all PCs are born in pacific timezone, and I knew it was a brand new box and everything installed with defaults left intact. I almost wrestled my way through privileges to fix that, when a colleague chimed in and said the server is set for a client in San Francisco... ouch. So the timezone was okay, only most of the rest was wrong :).
