Sometimes you'll hear the phrase, "This is Hail Mary attempt" - yes, often heard in sports as "Hail Mary Pass", but I hear it in business and other contemporary endeavors.
Basically, it's a super long-shot attempt - where, if the proverbial stars align and all the variables fit the desired pattern, there's a big positive outcome.
But the people doing it know that deep down, the odds of it actually happening are very low.
Kinda like when I was a senior in high school -after my last day, I sent flowers and a love poem to my Spanish teacher, whom I had a major crush on. That was a Hail Mary. (Though it had an ending that I never expected)
