NZ is now moving from its warm wet season to its cool wet season when respiratory infections are common. Current signs are not reassuring, with emergency declarations to deal with massive Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV) case loads already far greater than usual. Cynics say it's because immune systems weren't provoked during lockdown, but these days people who want to land blows on their selected opposition will say anything, so best to wait until the evidence is in.

Same deal: some say incompetence and/or failing to execute supply contracts in timely fashion; others say it's because NZ has no C19 so needs to let others go first. There's as many explanations as there are political persuasions, which is of course the modern definition of science.
