>>>I am also not happy with the situation. But Biden (and Trump as well!) inherited something having no good exit option. Going after Al-Queda after 9/11 was justified (IMO) and at least a political necessity. Bush invading Iraq changed the theme for the whole area and depending on military rebuilding gov was wrong tool to use IMO. >As usual, reported out of proportion. Remember the head count for Vietnam? Few dozen thousand vs couple of million, but media space was the other way round.

Indeed, but those US GI's - most of them draftees - still gave their lives or their capabilities in that senseless war at huge costs to themselves and their families and we have to honor them and their memories even as we mourn the millions of innocent people who died there.
Yes we killed millions over there and there will be an accounting for that but walking through a VA hospital here in the US and talking to the maimed Vietnam guys will give you an idea of that war's cost here - it's awful.
I often think that if Dante were alive now he'd conjure up a new Bolgia for people who start or encourage conflicts with risks to others but with no risks to themselves.
The great poet would have had a name for them I'm sure ... mine is bleeped out.
I like to think that he'd have raised the temperature there several magnitudes.
Anyone who does not go overboard- deserves to.
