I would agree that the Korean war had some justification.

However, the shelling of Seoul (unnecessary, MacCarthur did it for the headlines, to get there faster) and pushing past the 38th parallel (hubris, greed, headlines) and the dismissal and covering up of intelligence on the massed Chinese forces (I call that some combination of stupidity and treason, the latter being betraying troops for personal gain) were all inexcusable.

>>Bill,
>>71 years ago today on 15 September 1950 American troops started the landing at Inchon, Korea. I'll bet that if you took a poll of South Koreans you would have almost 100% agreement by the Korean people that they are glad that guys from NJ and FL and 46 other states and the UK , France and Canada showed up when they needed help.

>Yes, they certainly are grateful.

>They bow, rake the traps for me and take my ball out of the cup.
>It got embarrassing so I stopped saying it.

>The resilience of the Korean people is impressive.
>I was in Seoul after the Chinese had been pushed back. You could almost see from one end of the city to the other. Just a few buildings were standing.
>The pictures I see of Seoul now dazzle me.

>You could probably make the case that Korea was the last war we've fought that had any justification.
>It was controversial here because we weren't being threatened and a lot of guys had just come back from WWII and had had enough.
>There are some good arguments against the war, but on balance, I've come to think that Truman was right to go in.
