I interpret that article as saying that CDO is not supported for use interacting with newer versions of Outlook.
You can use CDO to send e-mails without Outlook present at all. If that's what you're doing then as I understand it the article doesn't apply.
One downside to using CDO to send mail without Outlook is there's no record in any "Sent items" or similar. If you need that then COM automation of Outlook is one way to go. This requires 32-bit Outlook in order to work with VFP.
Otherwise I believe there are 3rd party solutions available (Chilkat? Blat?)
