Thank you Tore et al who have responded. Truly appreciate all the input.

Im dusting off my old vfp hat so apologize if many changes are beyond my scope of experience hehe..in the past i have used alltrim because sometimes empty just would catch that pesky ghost space but like i said that was my experience many many moons ago...
