This morning I tested the approach above. And I don't see any problems. The table "mytable1" seems to be exactly the same as the original one. Even the Identity column which was in the original table (e.g. mytable1) stays as Identity after I renamed it from the backup version.
I will continue checking and testing this approach. But it seems to be very easy.
