Ok so the help engine does indeed work. If you use Tools, Options, File Locations, select Help File and Modify, try using the ... button to locate the file and make sure Use Help File is checked.

I just tried to intentionally mangle the path to see what happens if it's wrong, but VFP always repaired it all by itself! For me the path does not contain a space my path is d:\prog\vs98\msdn98\98vsa\1033\foxhelp.chm
