>It's so discouraging to see this kind of misinformation being perpetuated.
Way back, when we were moving from punched cards to mag tape we learned about "noise."
Noise was then defined as random signals coming off the tape that couldn't be translated into useful data.
We programmed ways to recognize noise and we got things working. Looking back now, it seems amazing, but we did it.
The noise just disappeared harmlessly.
Noise is a fact of life.
It can be defects in iron oxide - as it was then- or it can be defects in human personalities.
With talk radio, cable news, and the internet, noise seems pervasive but it really isn't. It's an aberration that will wear itself out.
It always does. No one (almost) thinks the world is flat or that Eve enticed Adam with the apple.
We can't attack noise, but we can program around it.
Anyone who does not go overboard- deserves to.
