I loved Meat Loaf. I got a chance to see him perform live after he released the "Back into Hell" album in 1993.

I forget his exact words, but in between songs, he stopped in tears, and shouted out something like, "I've been dreaming and praying for years and years to be back here doing this". He was choked up.

He was truly one-of-a-kind. He sang most of his songs with gut-wrenching emotion. Like most people, I prefer his albums with Steinman. His work is over-dramatic, over-the-top, and a million other performers might fail using the same approach....but he made it all work. I have never been into opera music - but I love tracks like "Objects in Rear View Mirror", which is probably the most emotionally intense track I've ever heard.
