There is no such thing as SQL Server, or more correct, there are very many SQL Server!!! You must also name the manufacturer!!! In this case you clearly mean Microsoft SQL Server, also called MS SQL Server. Please use that name in the future, to avoid confusion.

If you have version 6 something, it must be extremely old!. Check https://www.sqlserverversions.com/2021/05/sql-server-odbc-driver-versions.html for a list of drivers from the reasonably new drivers.

I can't give you any help on exactly what you describe, but be aware that there is no "best" driver. Some of the drivers can work with memo fields, but not date and/or datetime fields. No matter which version you use, there are shortcomings that you must be aware of. I have seen many discussions on the subject, but unfortunately I can't find any right now. Google will help you.

>You are correct; this is SQL Server. Thank you.

>SQL Server Error 17
>SQL Server does not exist or access denied.

>>Which Driver do you use? 6.1.... This seems to be very very old.
>>We use the ODBC Driver 17 for SQL Server which Version number is 2017.178.01.01

>>We've had problems with older Drivers with large Memo Fields.
>>Solution was always to use the newest Driver respectively the newest Driver regarding to the SQL Server Version.

>>>Hi,
>>>
>>>My VFP 9 application connects to the SQL Server via ODBC driver. The application can get the ODBC driver version.
>>>One customer has a problem with the application. And it seems (not sure though) that the problem is with the ODBC driver.
>>>Their ODBC driver version is 10.0.18362. My PC has ODBC driver and the version is 6.1.7601.17514.
>>>
>>>Is 6.1 older version than 10.0?
>>>
>>>TIA
