Just a word from paranoid corner: I always use the external linux based boot.
I started with Acronis mid-nineties and the external version is not totally overloaded -
adding cloning to file and image based backup is good enough for me and I have control over possible versioning problems.

Current version is only the one given for free with crucial SSD. Working as long as 1 disk in the system is crucial.
The laptops all have MX 500, desktop has Intel and WD black, but for this I can use the 512 GB I put in an USB3 case,
so I can backup any machine to big 10TB USB3 with the crucial on other USB port...

Have not had to fall back on secure boot from internal for a long time,
but that risk always worried me and backup while working did feel less secure

my 22€ (paranoia anti measures cost...)
