Maybe take a look at
www.Lianja.com, which is basically VFP 11 on stereoids, bundled with 5 integrated coding languages (VFP, Phyton, PHP, JavaScript, Typescript, Babel...) You can use any of those languages to write a module of an App. Lianja itself is a sibling of Recital, which in turn is a clone of FoxPro for the "Big Irons". That's where they have their knowledge about Data, Servers, Compilers from.
They have their own SQLServer (but can connect to any datasource), their own RSP (RecitalServerPages), they can build Standalone EXEs for all Desktop OS, for Mobiles and Tablets. It also can run as WabApplication server, has integrated version control, AuditTrail and what not. The ObjectModel is based on VFP's container model, and lots of commands/functions enhancements. It's in active Development, with nice short sprints and a very responsive DevTeam.
Yes, there's a free "Community Edition" for dabbling around.
