The trouble with them is that they keep working even when you forget that they do.

In this case my guess is that it was the „Close Databases“ that did it - the timer obviously needs some alias which was supposed to be available, but now isn't. Now if the timer code ran in its own datasession, we probably wouldn't have this thread.
