First, thank you for your input.
Yes, this would be a completely new app designed just for this small screen. Basically years ago (15+) an off-shore developer created an app for a scanner that is no longer supported. So, the customer asked me to look into replacing the program and the scanner. The old scanner does not even connect to the desktop of Windows 10.
I also am talking to the original designed to see what he suggests. I don't mind paying him; he knows much more about these things.
Of course, if the customer agrees to through the process, I will create a prototype of the screen. Mainly I would try to emulate the screens of the old app since the customer is used to it and does not want to relearn.
