Agreed.

However, It's hard to imagine but entire commercial accounting systems were built during the eighties and early nineties with SAY and GET. I sold a lot of them. I did a lot of work with them back them.
The advent of Windows and VFP changed all that, but those SAY and GET DOS systems replaced mainframe systems costing orders of magnitudes more and blazed the trail.
Like you, I doubt that I'd have the patience to deal with them now, but I can look back with fondness.
