If Al's 4 tips don't work *and* you already have Dotnet included in your app
(either "selfwritten" or Rick's DotNet tool)
you might look there - they have similar parsing options.
Dunno about FSO (File Scripting Object), which being straight COM might be easier.
//upd:Yupp, FSO has some Getxxx for drive, ext, filename, path - even absolute //end upd

But I'd probably opt for selfwritten, parsing from the right for [.\/:],
unless 2GB barrier needs FSO or Dotnet usage.
