I didn't even notice it had parameters :). Without any, it just does what I expect it to do, scroll the element so the reader can see it. When I use it on the main document, I scroll the heading - so it has to be on top, there being nothing above it. When I scroll the navigation div on the left, the element ends up somewhere in the middle, or near the top, depending on the length of text before and after it. Never found a reason to try to tweak it, it works to my satisfaction as it is.
