Lutz,

have not looked at GoFish code - guess it uses the vfp WebBrowser control, which Ken Levy coded.
If so, this calls up and into activeX interfaces identical to createobject("InternetExplorer.Application")

JR hinting at the version setting of WebBrowser via registry might be just as relevant as the latest version on the machine. - me installing local only XP has different dlls as those with later versions.
Rick has some articles on taming old ShDocVw/MsHTML, as he really used it in his MarkDown editor and elsewhere. As this is a registry setting, it can upset users ;-)

Rick switched to Chromium based (his customers probably less interested in old tools like vfp and IE based HTML) - had to slay new dragonbugs recently, follow his asynch battles on the bird site ;-)

But head over to west wind if you have not read his findings yet - one of the best resources on old IE and already with a focus on DotNet or even vfp...

On newer OS: I personally have not tried the adaptation layer allowing Chromium Edge to support trident interfaces, but -iiRC it had 96+% of methods implemented (according to blurb...) but back then had to be activated (probably install wrapper layer). Have NOT followed up.

When trying to fix back then first step was to ask for version of IE (as long as it can be started), add the registry setting. Adding OS to that mix and version of specific Dlls perhaps warranted if it works on your machine and breaks in the wild ;-)

thomas
