>>I tried adding the vfp9r.dll in the same folder in the server where the EXE is, then suddenly a message say "Visual FoxPro cannot start. Could not load resources", so I've removed it and then it works again. What resources is it looking for?

As Tamar suggests, a known cause for this message will be missing VFP9Rxxx.DLL , depending what language the exe was compiled for.

Whether this explains the quiet shut down is another matter. If the VFP runtime is not in the app folder, then the new PC must be finding it somewhere else.

At one point there were suggestions that compiling an app and then distributing with a runtime from a different SP can cause these sorts of messages. Whether true or not, it's definitely worth ensuring that the distributed runtime matches the version the app is compiled under, ideally SP2. In addition, putting the correct runtime in the app folder ensures that the correct runtime is used rather than some other version located elsewhere for whatever reason.
"... They ne'er cared for us
yet: suffer us to famish, and their store-houses
crammed with grain; make edicts for usury, to
support usurers; repeal daily any wholesome act
established against the rich, and provide more
piercing statutes daily, to chain up and restrain
the poor. If the wars eat us not up, they will; and
there's all the love they bear us.
