Hi all –

------| The Background
I have a client running non-patched Visual FoxPro 8.0 to support a legacy, mission-critical application. In addition to not taking advantage of the improvements in VFP 9.0, they are hitting various semi-random issues with “batch” type processing that feel like VFP / network issues (e.g., unpredictable Error Reading File (1104) errors).

Looking at the Issues Addressed in Service Pack 1 list, there’s at least the possibility bringing VFP 8.0 to the latest VFP 8.0 release (SP 1 + Patches) may have a positive impact on the errors.

------| The Research
I was not able to find an “all VFP 8.0 patches” list to bring VFP 8.0 to its last release, so I’ve scraped together the following based on various sources.

1. VFP 8.0 Service Pack 1 - 10/07/2003

2. Visual FoxPro 8.0 Service Pack 1 GDIPLUS.DLL Security Update - ~10/30/2009

3. Visual FoxPro 8.0 Service Pack 1 Security Rollup Update - 7/15/2023

4. Visual FoxPro 8.0 Service Pack 1 Security Update - 8/15/2023

Note: Interesting that MSFT has posted the last two this year—I would have lost that bet!

------| The Questions

1. Am I missing any patches?

2. I assume the order shown above is the correct installation order. Is it?

3. What is the final Release number I should see once all patches have been installed? Currently we’re seeing 08.00.0000.2521.

4. Their app calls compiled FXPs—Will those FXPs need to be recompiled to run under the patched VFP 8.0 SP1? I don’t think so, but it’s been a long while so confirmation would be helpful.

Thanks all!
