If the app is using tables it can be a problem because if the tables are large then the app will run very slowly because it has to pull a bunch of data down. If the app is written with paramterized views and is only pulling small amounts of data then it should work just fine. Other option is to use remote desktop (or something similar) and have the app on a machine at the office.
