Scott,

We ran into similar problems and had to write code to pad empty memo fields with blanks. Of course, we then had to write code when returning said values from SQL to remove the blanks to not interfere with the user entry. It has something to do with the NULL settings on the SQL-side of the things (we believe). We tried setting it to accept null values, but that caused other problems within the database; sorry can't recall what they were now.
