Do I have to tell you the other half of the answer? You almost said it all. Just run this SQL from a .fxp which will be called somewhere early in a report (say, from a definition of a report variable which gets mentioned in the report header), and it may do all you need. Though, I've never tried changing workareas from within report (OK, I did, but always returned to the one the report was designed upon).
