I have attempted the job as yours
in network environment, ActDoc's data accessing works well,
but other class of network or internet,
data accessing directly is not possible.

so you must UNC path your data directory or ADO solution.
sometimes UNC path is not work in internet environment.

I think that ActiveDoc is only intranet solution still now.
