Unfortunately, I'm not familiar with MaxFrame, and I don't see how to fix the problem. I just see possible workaround: if all controls subclassed then you may set Form.KeyPreview=.F., return to control parent class(es) and fire Thisform.KeyPress explicitly right from there.
