Title:
Word 97 won't see vfp tables even though odbc driver loaded
Hi,
I'm runnning windows NT 4.0 service pack 4 with Visual Foxpro 5, Visual Foxpro 6 and Office 97 professional.
I'm trying to use ole automation in vfp to do a mail merge, but I've had a lot of problems trying to make it work. So just for kicks, I just opened up Word 97 by itself and tried to do a mail merge by just using it's built in wizard. When I click on 'open data source' I don't have a choice for VFP tables, even though in the ODBC data source administrator in the Windows NT control panel says that I have both a user data source for Visual Foxpro tables and another one for visual foxpro databases.
If I just try telling word to show all files by selecting "show all files" in the 'show files of type' dialog, and then I just choose a foxpro table, it opens the table as a text file and all I see is a bunch of garbage which I assume is the table's header information. Could anyone tell me what's wrong here?? Any ideas of what I might try? I posted this question in a couple of msnews groups but thought I'd give it a shot here also. Thanks in advance. -Rick
