Perhaps this in not the answer you want, but it may help work around the problem. If you have control over the table design, you could remove table level constraints. Instead use form level validation with your own error messagebox(). In some business environments this would not be acceptable, but if your client is agreeable, then this would solve your problem of providing meaningful field level validation information rapidly.
