So I get a variable not found error and any bound controls or access through code is hosed. The tables were never free as far as I know, they were always linked to a database. Interestingly enough, I can simply edit the name of the field in the table designer and it keeps the old name. But it is a pain in the rear. ;)

I have moved a few databases from VFP 5 to 6, and have not had this problem...
The only thing that gets recompiled when a dbc goes from 5 to 6 are the stored procedures. If there are none, the dbc is unchanged because it doesn't need to be. Same structure.
