Right. Keep in my mind I'm using my own inarticulate words. The authors certainly do it better justice than I. The proposal seems to be taking what you do when you apply design pattern analysis to an existing system and extending (and formalizing) the...um...if I may...heuristic.

Also, it specifically looks at when design patterns are misapplied, which I very appreciate learning about.
