At my "day" job, a team on one of the products has replaced dbfs with an Access backend and they are using DAO. They are suffering from major data access performance problems. Why Access? Because dbfs are not "professional" enough for the C programmers on that team. Go figure!

My product, one of the two most successful components of the larger product, is being replaced with VB (front end), C++, MTS, MSMQ, more middle ware then I can list (for the middle tier), and SQL Server for the datastore. Their tests, on very powerful hardware, show that they are only "as fast" as my VFP app. Another go figure!

But, being in the heart of Silicon Valley I believe is part of the problem.
