I am not trying to say that dbf's can't or shouldn't be used on a web site. I am simply saying that there are other data stores that allow a broader use than dbf's and more than raw performance may be involved in the selection of the database engine.

Browser based interfaces are comming into their own and XML will certainly play a very large role in that process.
