I realized that when I was giving a destination for the sql statment I did not use cursor cursorname. I had omitted the cursor keyword. After fixing that your first suggestion worked great. Thanks a lot!
>>I have tried that before but then the grid is not active and doesn't show any records. The sql statement for the recordsource is simply "select cfield1,cfield2,cfield3,nfield1 from data1".

>>>>I have a grid with the RecordSourceType of 4 for Sql Statement. The Sql statement always displays a Query window when the form loads or when I change the recordSource SQL statement from another control. How do I hide this browse window or not make it appear at all?
>>>
>>>Is there an INTO CURSOR at the end.

>My suggestion is change your recordsourceType to 1-Alias and open the cursor in the Load
