Many developers started with VFP when their experience was toitally with prior version that did not have a database container. Therefore they tended to do things the way they were familiar with.
If the project is 60% done it is at the crossroads for changing the underlying architecture. Either make the change now or forget it. Changing will require that the fomrs comply with the referential integrity rules established in the databse. If there are a number of forms already created that are handling the referential integrity then you may want to leave well enough alone on this project.
