you should see Excel when you check "insertable objects" in the VFP

I don't have Excel - but I checked it on another machine and it works ok

yes - you should have Excel on every machine (it doesn't matter if you use DDE or OLE for that matter)
if you don't want/can't have excel on every machine - you might want to consider using MS Graph 5.0 which ships with VFP (among other products)
