It's simple to find out outside the grid what is the its active row. It corresponds to the current record of grid.recordsource. Identifying active column might be tricky. You may customize column.control (textbox) got/lostfocus event to reset some custom form.property really indicating currently active column, e.g.
***Control.GotFocus event
Thisform.LastGridActiveColumn=this.parent
