Hi Robert,
I've got a number of tables I have to deal with where I have no control over the design. In short, it's a less than ideal situation. I'm working on a class that generates _Access and _Assign methods for transferring data from these into my tables for manipulation and back again. The most interesting (and I think most powerful) thing is that you create a data object (something like you would with SCATTER...NAME objname), if you GATHER from that objname, the _Access methods fire. This will allow me to encapsulate the data translation procedure. While I (admittedly) haven't completed overcoming some of the hurdles, I think this usage holds promise in this area.
