To add to Michel and Jim's posts...what you are describing sounds to me like a classic wizard-style situation that has a "Next>>" button on it that is enabled only after the critical information is entered. You might even want to set the tabs to .f. (or is it 0?) so that user only sees one page at a time and presses back or next to move through the tabs.
Just a thought.
