>OK. I looked into this and the good news is that you can redistribute DCOM95.EXE royalty free with your applications provided you follow the guidelines in the end-user license on the following URL:

>

In that case, the wrapper will look for a copy of the DCOM95.EXE in the main directory of the NETSETUP, and will install it silently without reboot on Win95 systems lacking the \HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\OLE registry value EnableDCOM on Win95 systems before invoking the Setup Wizard install, and will force a reboot if necessary when the Setup Wizard install terminates. That means that I'll leave a messagebox for Win98 and NT system users where the key doesn't exist - with NT, I can tell them that they need SP3 or later. What can I do other than have the user reinstall IE4 under Win98, since you haven't confirmed that DCOM98, which will install DCOM for both Win95 and Win98, can be distributed with an app royalty-free? I'll admit that I've not run into a Win98 box that didn't have the DCOM components already installed, but somewhere out there is one just waiting to bite me...

Things have been a bit hectic at work with end of year and rate change issues, so I apologize for not having dug out the specific instances where DIRECTORY() was flakey for me. I will get the details out to you as soon as the end-of-year madness lightens up.
