Have you looked at the Upsizing wizard ? under Tools | Wizards | Upsizing
That works and transfers the data, real cool. It probably is not perfect, but it sure as hell beats re inventing the wheel.
Additionally there is a lot of source code in
\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio\Vfp98\Tools\XSource\xsource.zip
This stuff is so well hidden, you may not have stumbled across it.
