I must be missing something here. I have a simple form that launches from the add command button of another form. The init in the 2nd form does this: (Buffer mode is set to 5 by the way.)

select bsloc
append blank

If I check the record number here it is -1 as it should be.

When the data appears in the form it is setting on record #4.

What have I done wrong. I should be setting on a blank record ready for my user to enter a new record. I found if I replace the hidden key in my record with a value the new record appears but I don't want to use up keys and so I don't want to do this until the user saves.
