Only when the expression I search doesn't change, then I could create an index on that expression and wouldn't have any speed problems whatsoever. But usally one want to search for any word, and that's where I'd use phdBase or at least simulate something like this through the Update-Trigger.

In a word, probably I won't use this function on a big table.
